Detachable Subdivision
"Rivne Professional College of
National University of Life
and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine"
On November 26, 2024, Nelya KIYKO, a teacher of land management disciplines, held an open practical lesson in the academic discipline "Land Law" on the topic "Solving situational problems related to land disputes" with students of group 31-Z of specialty 193 "Geodesy and Land Management".
Purpose of the lesson: to develop practical skills in students in solving production land law problems using artificial intelligence tools and to motivate students to study land law in depth.
Relevance of the topic is defined by the fact that as of 2024, land disputes remain an important problem in Ukraine. In 2023–2024, the Supreme Court of Ukraine actively considered cases related to land lease, change of its purpose, as well as cancellation of property rights. In the first half of 2024 alone, 59 key decisions in this area were recorded. In addition, a significant increase in prices is observed in the land market of Ukraine: the average cost of 1 hectare in 2023 increased by 10.4% and is approximately 38.5 thousand UAH, which also affects economic disputes regarding land use.
The form of student work used in the lesson was – small groups of 5–6 people. These are the so-called groups of psychological comfort, in which each participant plays his own special role and in some way complements the others with his qualities. The use of "small groups" made it possible to create an opportunity for each student to participate in the work on the topic of practical work. In addition, the lesson used artificial intelligence as an individual participant and an opponent for teams.
The applicants solved practical cases by topic:
- Resolution of land disputes regarding the ownership, use and disposal of land plots owned by citizens.
- Resolving land disputes regarding the boundaries of land plots owned and used by citizens, and ensuring that citizens comply with the rules of good neighborliness.
The participants' answers were evaluated according to the following criteria: correctness of the task solution; completeness of the answer; argumentation. Additional points were provided for activity and penalties for insufficient initiative. During the game, the team of Hryhoriy GOLUB won, and the most active participants were NEVIRKOVETS Yaroslav and BARANCHUK Anastasia.
So, students competed with artificial intelligence, their answers were more complete and took into account the latest changes in land legislation. Today, AI does not have sufficient tools for analyzing land legislation and references to legislative acts. But it generates detailed answers regarding general provisions, preparation of documents, etc.
During the discussion, the applicants established that today AI cannot completely replace a land surveyor or lawyer. Accordingly, his answers should be checked for references to current legislative acts and supplemented with arguments.
Therefore, such classes allow you to: deepen your knowledge of land legislation, develop analytical skills, learn to cooperate in resolving conflicts, and become familiar with real situations and ways to resolve them.
An open lesson on the topic "Solving situational tasks related to land disputes" is an excellent opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context. This not only contributes to improving legal culture, but also helps to form qualified specialists who are able to effectively solve current land issues, and artificial intelligence is gradually becoming an integral part of the educational process.
