The library and information center
The Library and Information Center of the VSP "Rivne Professional College of the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine" is a modern educational, informational, and cultural and educational structural unit of the college, which provides the educational process with the necessary information resources according to the profile of a professional pre-higher education institution, and also performs the tasks of forming an information culture of users, educating a personality aware of their civic duty, open to intellectual, creative development and self-education.
The Library and Information Center was established in 2009. The library reform was due to the expansion of traditional library functions in order to intensify the use of modern information technologies in the educational process and library and bibliographic services.
To ensure access to global information resources, as well as its own databases: electronic library, college repository, electronic catalogs, automated workstations for users have been created in the reading room, and free Wi-Fi has been installed. Remote access to electronic educational resources in the context of distance learning and independent work of students is provided by the college's web resource.
The college's library and information center is a long-term member of the Rivne Regional Corporate Association of Libraries for maintaining a regional catalog of periodicals with a coordination center in the regional library. The BIC electronic catalog today has over 100,000 bibliographic records of books and periodicals for all specialties. Over the year, librarians perform over 8,500 bibliographic and factual inquiries on user information requests, using electronic information resources and technologies.
The general fund of the library and information center includes over 52,000 documents on traditional media, including books and professional periodicals for all specialties.
In total, during the year, the library and information center serves more than 2,000 users using a single reader form. These are full-time and part-time students, teachers, college employees, graduates, specialists, etc. The average number of books issued on subscription and in the reading room per year is about 90,000 documents. The number of visits per year is 80,000.
The Library and Information Center coordinates the work and cooperates with the Scientific Library of the National University of Sciences of Ukraine, other libraries of educational institutions in order to exchange work experience, improve professional competencies, maintain a positive business image, and solve common problems of library and educational activities in training competitive specialists.
For many years, the BIC has been cooperating with the State Institution "Scientific and Methodological Center for Higher and Professional Pre-Higher Education". Library seminars in online and mixed format, flash mobs, virtual trips, conferences, and other events are aimed today at transforming libraries of educational institutions into an open public space, one of the main levers for the development of national consciousness of youth, a place of safety and freedom, where every student receives not only access to information, but also psychological support, and conditions for the implementation of creative plans.
The traditional long-term communication with the Rivne Regional Scientific Universal Library is close and diverse. Business meetings and presentations, thematic and literary events, trainings and legal consultations, master classes and art exhibitions, city tours and virtual tours, etc. are held for education seekers.
Interaction with the Rivne organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, literary meetings with authors of books help young people integrate into the social and cultural life of the city, and are also useful for the study and popularization of local history literature.
The development of information technologies does not reject the value of the printed book. The decoration and pride of our library fund are publications that have become true spiritual achievements of the Ukrainian people. This is the anniversary edition of "The Peresopnytsia Gospel: Origins and Present", the modern edition of the "Ostroh Bible", the scientific illustrated edition of Volodymyr Nedyak "Ukraine - Cossack State", etc.
Librarians of the BIC, in cooperation with the teaching staff and the college administration, take care of learning, information hygiene, and the safety of students; preserve our identity and universal human values. Library workers strive to transform our common Temple of Wisdom, the Library, into a space of cooperation, a place of strength, growth, and maturation of the people of the future. And of course, we support the motto of the Ukrainian Library Association: “The Library is your synergy of Victory!”
