On March 19, 2025, students of the 21st and 22nd groups of the specialty "Management", studying the discipline "Fundamentals of Ecology" and members of the scientific environmental circle "Source", students of the 22nd group of the specialty "Geodesy and Land Management" became participants in a thematic meeting «Level of safety and quality of drinking water and water bodies of Rivne region", organized by an ecology teacher By Stefania MALIMON with the assistance of the Rivne Regional Universal Scientific Library. The event is timed World Water Day.
The applicants were met by the chief specialist of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Rivne Regional State Administration Iryna KHUDOBA, lecturer at the Department of Hydraulics, NUVHP, associate professor at the Department of Hydropower, Thermal Power and Hydraulic Machines Anatoly KARPYUK, lecturer in ecology, Faculty of Psychology and Natural Sciences, Rivne State Humanitarian University Olga YAKUTA.
The meeting raised issues of the state of water resources of Ukraine and, in particular, of the Rivne region. Thus, the characteristics and analysis of the quality of water bodies of the Rivne region were presented to the audience by Iryna KHUDOBA. Ms. Iryna drew the attention of those present to the problems of the global water cycle in nature, the shortage of fresh water in the future, desalination of sea water, the impact of water on climate change and the role of water for humans.
Rivne Regional Production Municipal Enterprise of Water Supply and Sewerage "Rivneoblvodokanal" ensures the uninterrupted operation of the water supply system for the population of the city of Rivne and wastewater treatment. Anatoliy KARPYUK spoke about the technical characteristics of wells for water supply and the processes of its treatment. The head of Rivneoblvodokanal noted that water from taps in the city of Rivne can be used as drinking water and not be afraid to consume it.
During the meeting, tasting water to taste: from the tap, mineral and purified by the company "Aqua-voda". The students tried to determine by taste what kind of water they were drinking, but not everyone succeeded. For the experts present, this situation remained a mystery: did they really determine the water by taste, or did they just guess?
Summing up Stefania MALIMON emphasized the importance of such meetings for the formation of environmental awareness of future specialists, regarding the use and conservation of water resources. After all, water is life, and clean water is the basis of health. So let today's meeting inspire the youth present to take action to overcome the water supply and sanitation crisis, to be careful about water resources, and to save drinking water.
