DAAD PROJECT
For 14 years, Ukraine has been actively participating in the programs of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), one of the world's largest organizations in the field of education, which ensures the mobility of students, postgraduates and teachers, and provides an opportunity for talented young people from all over the world to undergo a scientific internship or improve their qualifications in Germany. In 1998, a Memorandum of Cooperation was concluded between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the German Academic Exchange Service, which provided for the establishment of a DAAD representative office in Kyiv.
Modern education and the educational space in general require from educational, scientific, administrative, production and other spheres of activity within higher education institutions the training of highly qualified specialists, competitive in the modern labor market. In particular, highly qualified graduates of higher education institutions are the result of high-quality training of students for professional activity and the prestige of the educational institution. The information space in the current conditions dictates the conditions and requirements for high-quality training of specialists in the spheres of activity.
To this end, the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine has become a participant in the international DAAD project "Digitalization of Ukrainian Higher Education Institution (DAAD Project)", which is organized by the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf, Germany. This project is designed to gain experience in increasing the digital competence of all participants in the educational process, in particular during training, communication between teachers and students, and the implementation of new telecommunication networks at the university.
The first joint online meeting between the project participants took place on May 14, 2020. During the discussion, the issues of the project program, ways of its implementation in the conditions of Ukrainian universities, methods of implementing digitalization in higher education institutions, forms of applying digitalization of universities and methods of improving the skills of employees in the use of IT technologies in the educational and scientific space were addressed. The following actively participated in the discussion: the project manager from NUBiP of Ukraine, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, International Activities and Development Vadym Tkachuk and the project participants: Director of the Educational and Scientific Center for International Activities Oleksandr Labenko, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies Olena Glazunova, Associate Professor of the Department of Agrosphere Ecology and Environmental Control Vita Strokal. In particular, the meeting resulted in agreed approaches to the application of digitalization in Ukrainian universities and a program of future actions within the framework of the project.
Support for the internationalization of Ukrainian universities and shaping the digital future continued in 2022-2023. Now the project has been joined by colleges of five agricultural universities of Ukraine: Mykolaiv National Agricultural University, Sumy National Agricultural University, Vinnytsia National Agricultural University, and the National University of Agricultural Sciences (Rivne).

For over 20 years, the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences has been intensively cooperating with the National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management of Ukraine (NUBiP of Ukraine) in Kyiv and the Sumy National Agrarian University (SNAU). About 5 years ago, the Mykolaiv National Agrarian University (MNAU) joined the cooperation.
During the first phase of the project in 2019-2021 (extended until mid-2022 due to corona), the great importance of digitalization support for our three Ukrainian partner universities became apparent. In connection with Russia's aggressive war and the partners' introduction of digital teaching for their students, the transition to online learning has become a central issue for the continuation of teaching at the partner universities. In the first phase, work is planned in 4 sub-areas:
- coordination of the work of steering groups on university digitalization;
- creating online teaching and learning methods;
- using interactive applications for learning;
- summer school.
This project aims to build on the results of Phase 1 and achieve three objectives in collaboration with existing partners:
Dissemination and consolidation of the content developed in Phase 1 in other agricultural universities and agricultural colleges. The project aims to train teachers of agricultural universities, agricultural colleges and other agricultural education entities in the creation of digital online educational materials. This will use the experience gained in creating already developed online educational materials. They will be taught to additional partners, and sections of the course on creating videos and educational materials and their editing (Camtasia software) will be taught by other partners. Additional universities are Rivne National University of Water Management and Environmental Management and Vinnytsia National Agrarian University. In addition, agricultural colleges of the participating universities are included in the target group, in particular, agricultural colleges.
Creation of another online training module on the collection, storage and use of economic data in agriculture. This module is a direct continuation of the already created modules. Newly joined partners can receive direct training here on the creation and editing of the new online module.
During the Digitization Summer School, students and teachers have the opportunity to test the interactive applications and online modules they have learned, as well as discuss and evaluate them together.
Seminar at VNAU
Vinnytsia National Agrarian University acted as the organizer DAAD ERASMUS+ workshop "Supporting the digitalization of Ukrainian agricultural universities" together with the University of Applied Sciences Weinstefan-Triesdorf (Germany). Participants of the workshop, which took place during May 24-26, 2023 held at the VNAU, we had a good opportunity to get to know the university better and visit its innovative platforms, which are undoubtedly the pride of VNAU.
The training was attended by more than 60 participants from five leading agricultural universities of Ukraine and 18 colleges representing a total of 10 regions of Ukraine (representatives of the Higher Educational Service of the Russian Federation of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Life Sciences of Ukraine): Iryna YAKYMCHUK and Nelya RUSINA).

Professor addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech. Ralph SCHLAUDERER, Vice President for Academic National and International Continuing Education, Head of the Academy and HSWT International School. In his speech, the scientist noted that the main objective of the two-day training is to strengthen cooperation between universities, to develop such important practical skills for scientists that are used by foreign partner universities. He sincerely thanked the leadership of Vinnytsia National Agrarian University for the opportunity to meet, exchange experience, and provide an innovative platform for developing successful international practices in the educational process.
He noted that it is extremely pleasant that this meeting is being attended by Nikki van Weggel from Great Britain.
DAAD Coordinator from VNAU – Professor, Doctor of Economics, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and Educational Work Svitlana LUTKOVSKA congratulated the participants on behalf of the leadership of her native VNAU, the president Hryhoriy KALETNIK.
