This is not the first year that the VSP "RFK NUBiP of Ukraine" has been participating in an international hackathon. From January 22 to January 28, the hackathon was held at the Zagrava Games base. At the same time, there was a global Global Game Jam 2024 global game development hackathonThe jam brings together both experienced developers and beginners, because it's a great opportunity to demonstrate your professionalism or try your hand at game development for the first time and see from the inside how a game is created from scratch.
But this year, registration took place earlier, back in November. Then, from January 15-19, there was a preparatory week, where meetups, master classes, lectures, and streams were held, both international and in locations.
On January 20 at 8:00 PM Kyiv time, the main organizers of the Jam announced the theme: "Make me laugh."
Jammers enthusiastically formed remote teams and worked on their games. With the game upload deadline of January 28th, this year's jam also gives a full week of development!
Global Game Jam – is a social event aimed at meeting enthusiasts and game development professionals, working in a team, and presenting created projects. Therefore, at the international level, all jam projects are presented equally, there is no competition or rating. But the organizers of Global Game Jam Ukraine hold a competition of jam projects across the country to determine the developments that are most promising for transformation into a full-fledged game.

Our students from the programming department also participated: the team Friends with the game Funny bard, the Game bulb team with the game Fun Linguistics. The teams cannot boast of good places. But this is an invaluable experience. The participants received gifts in memory of their participation in the international competition for creating computer games Global Game JamMentoring support for the Picsel team was provided by Chernyak T.G., a lecturer in the programming department, who helped the participants at every stage of project development.
We sincerely thank everyone who joined the global hackathon, wish the winners success in the next stages, and invite everyone to Global Game Jam 2025. A good attempt to apply professional competencies. We hope that such participation of the programming department will be useful to everyone who wants to be a game developer! We wish you success!
