Academic integrity in the age of artificial intelligence: challenges and prospects

Teachers and students of the Department of Information Technology of the Faculty of Education of the Russian Academy of Sciences of the National University of Sciences of Ukraine participated in the Forum dedicated to academic integrity and the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process. The event brought together educators, scientists, and experts who discussed modern challenges and prospects for implementing the principles of academic integrity in the context of digital transformation.

The goal of the Forum was to find approaches that would contribute to ensuring academic integrity in educational activities. Special attention was paid to issues of ethics and responsibility when using artificial intelligence in education, in particular in the context of preventing plagiarism and manipulation in academic texts. The Forum became a platform for exchanging experience between experts and educators, which contributed to raising awareness of the participants about the principles of academic integrity and ensuring high quality education in the context of active implementation of new technologies.

During the event, participants analyzed the main challenges and threats to academic integrity that arise in connection with the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process. Considerable attention was paid to discussing the ethical aspects of the use of digital technologies, the formation of academic responsibility among students and teachers, as well as considering effective approaches to preventing plagiarism and academic manipulation. In particular, modern technological solutions for checking texts for uniqueness, pedagogical methods for forming honest behavior of students, and best practices for ensuring academic ethics were presented.

Of particular interest were discussions on the role of critical thinking in the formation of academic integrity, the ability to analyze and evaluate information, verify its reliability, and counteract manipulation. The Forum participants emphasized the importance of developing information literacy, the responsible use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the educational process, as well as the formation of ethical guidelines when applying the latest technologies in education.

At the end of the event, participants received certificates confirming their awareness of issues of academic integrity, ethics in education, critical thinking and information literacy. The forum became an important step in building a culture of academic integrity, promoting professional dialogue among educators, developing recommendations for educational institutions and improving educational strategies in the modern digital environment.
