As part of the week of the cyclical commission of general education disciplines, on October 15, 2024, a workshop entitled “Stereometry with your own hands” was held among students of the general education department by teachers of mathematical disciplines: Larisa TRYHUBETS, Yulia YUKHYMCHUK, Iryna BARANOVSKAYA, Olga ANTONEVYCH.
A reliable means of forming spatial ideas and design abilities in students is three-dimensional modeling. This type of activity arouses lively interest in students, contributes to the formation of skills to compare surrounding objects with geometric shapes; mentally divide objects into parts and compare them with geometric figures and bodies; represent from memory the image of a previously seen object; imagine the image of an object that you want to make according to your own plan; express it on a plane by creating a silhouette from geometric figures; create a material image of an object from flat parts.
During the workshop, students used scissors and glue to make various three-dimensional figures from paper, which will be studied in pairs in mathematics and have practical applications in life.
