On March 14, International Pi Day, students of the general education department had a unique opportunity to combine creativity and science at the exciting workshop “Pi Mosaic,” which was conducted by mathematics teachers: Larisa TRYHUBETS, Iryna BARANOVSKA, Yulia YUKHYMCHUK, and Olga ANTONEVYCH.
The goal of the workshop was not only to celebrate an important mathematical date, but also to show that mathematics can be not only a complex science, but also a source of inspiration for creativity. Students had the opportunity to visualize the abstract concept of the number Pi by creating bright mosaic compositions.
At the beginning of the workshop, students learned about the history of Pi and its significance in various fields of science. They were then tasked with creating a mosaic using the first digits of Pi as the basis for a color palette. Each digit corresponded to a specific color, allowing students to visually represent the infinity and beauty of this mathematical constant.
Students worked in teams, discussing color solutions and execution techniques. They used a variety of materials: colored paints, pencils, markers, paper. Each team had the opportunity to show their individuality and creativity.
The workshop resulted in unique mosaic panels that reflected not only the number Pi, but also the students' creative potential. Each work was unique, demonstrating a variety of styles and techniques.
The students were excited about the opportunity to combine math and art. They noted that the workshop helped them better understand the meaning of Pi and see the beauty of mathematics.
The “Pi Mosaic” workshop was a great example of how to make learning mathematics interesting and exciting. It showed that mathematics is not only numbers and formulas, but also a source of inspiration for creativity.
