March 6, 2024, teacher of land management disciplines Oleg KACHANOVSKYY held an open lecture class on the academic discipline "Automated Land Cadastral Information System" on the topic "Overview of cartographic sources on the Internet. Artificial Internet in geoinformation systems" with students of group 41-Z of specialty 193 "Geodesy and Land Management".
Purpose of the lesson: to introduce cartographic sources on the Internet and show the application of artificial intelligence in solving geoinformation problems.
The class was held in in the form of a lecture-visualizationThe teacher, using the Internet, introduced students to open cartographic sources such as OpenStreetMap, the Global Forest Watch online platform, the Estonian geoportal and the Data Journalism portal. Data visualization provided real-time presentation of new information to students and solved problem situations that arise when working with cartographic Internet resources.
Through search-and-display method the possibilities of artificial intelligence in geographic information systems were presented - this is data mining, using machine learning methods for image classification, vectorization of raster cartographic materials, writing code (Python and JavaScript) to solve applied problems GoogleEarthEngine (GEE).
The generalization and systematization of the studied material took place in the form of discussions on the issues "Cartographic services - new opportunities or realities of life?" and "Is AI an assistant in land management".
The goal of the lesson was achieved, and the lecture itself contributed to the formation of cognitive interest and professional skills among students.
