On March 10, 2025, a practical lesson in the discipline of Fundamentals of Ecology was held on the topic: "Introduction to the Red Book of Ukraine, rare species of plants and animals listed in it" for students of group 21-Z, teacher Stefania MALYMON.
The purpose of the lesson is to form a holistic understanding of Red Book of Ukraine as a key tool for preserving biological diversity; expanding knowledge about the diversity of rare species of flora and fauna of Ukraine; developing environmental awareness and forming an active civic position among students.
The game "Ecological Relay Race" has become an effective tool for updating basic knowledge and assessing the initial level of students' training.
As part of the lesson, using the electronic manual "Fundamentals of Ecology", students studied in detail various editions of the Red Book of Ukraine and analyzed the table reflecting the dynamics of the disappearance of plant and animal species.
During practical work, education students studied the materials of the Red Book of Ukraine in workbooks and watched the video "Protected Area", which allowed them to get a visual idea of the conditions of existence of rare species on the territory of protected areas of Ukraine.
The applicants studied the categories of plants from the Red Book of Ukraine, described rare species and developed measures for their protection. They also studied the Red Book species of their region and offered recommendations for their restoration.
A crossword puzzle about rare species of the Rivne region helped students generalize their knowledge and increase the environmental awareness necessary for the preservation of ecosystems.
