On March 14, 2024, a ceremony was held to unveil a memorial plaque commemorating the memory of Yaroslav Petrovich Korsun and on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
Yaroslav Petrovych was born on March 10, 1944 in Radyvyliv region. He received his higher education at the Rivne State Pedagogical Institute and the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy (now the NUBiP of Ukraine). He graduated from the postgraduate course of the IAPM. He began his career in 1960 as a teacher of mathematics and labor. Since 1966, he has been a teacher of physics and general technical disciplines at the Myrogoshchansky State Farm College, since 1980, he has been the head of the department at the Rivne Motor Transport College. Since 1986, he has held the position of deputy director for educational work at the Rivne State Farm College, and from 1997 to 2023, he has been the director of the college. He is a deputy of the Rivne City Council of three convocations.
A memorial plaque is installed on the facade of the Separate Structural Unit "Rivne Professional College of NUBiP of Ukraine", whose long-term leader was Yaroslav Petrovich Korsun - a teacher, innovator, and wise leader. With his ascetic activities, he earned the good memory of present and future generations.
This event took place at the initiative of the College leadership, colleagues and students, all those for whom Yaroslav Petrovych was a teacher, dear friend, advisor and role model in life.
The unveiling of the memorial plaque took place with the participation of Oleksandra Sanchenko, Head of the Department of Regional Development, Coordination of VSP Activities, Distance Education and Correspondence Studies of NUBiP of Ukraine, Leontiya Samchuka, member of the college's supervisory board, public figure, Honored Energy Worker of Ukraine and Rostyslava Sabadyshyn, Rector of the Rivne Medical Academy.
The director of the college, Doctor of Economics, addressed the audience with an introductory speech. Vasyl Tsaruk. “I was lucky to work with this outstanding personality, manager, teacher. Yaroslav Petrovych was not just a teacher, he was a friend and mentor. They say that when a person is born, a star lights up in the sky. Yaroslav Petrovych’s star burned very brightly and with its light it indicates the path we should take. The decisions he made were strategically important for the development of our College: expanding the material and technical base, a powerful teaching staff, a large student body, opening new specialties that are really needed on the labor market. Yaroslav Petrovych was a fan of his work. He lived by work, the result of which we see now. One of the most important decisions of Yaroslav Petrovych was the entry of our College in 2016 into the structure of the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, which gave an additional impetus to the development of the educational institution in the education system of Ukraine and each of us. "The foundation laid by Yaroslav Petrovych stands strong, and our task is to continue the work he began," said Vasyl Yuriyovych.
Many difficulties and trials fell to Yaroslav Petrovich. He was helped to overcome these obstacles by his reliable and faithful companion, his wife. Svitlana Volodymyrivna. Ms. Svitlana thanked the team for their warm words, support, and shared her memories of him. “My husband’s work was also a part of my life, but he never allowed it to influence his decisions,” Svitlana Volodymyrivna noted.
Yaroslav Petrovych's wife expressed her sincere gratitude to the staff and management of the University, and personally - Stanislav Mykolayovych, who always supported, understood Yaroslav Petrovich and helped to implement his plans.
The head of the department of NUBiP of Ukraine addressed the participants of the event Oleksandr Sanchenko with the words: "Today we have the honor to be at the opening of the memorial immortalized in granite of our glorious Yaroslav Petrovych - a wise leader who brought the educational institution to a high European level. Today, the Rivne Vocational College is the flagship among all separate divisions of the University. It was in 2016, feeling that it was necessary to work with powerful institutions, that you entered the structure of the University. Rector of the University Stanislav Mykolayovych always supports, always proudly and joyfully says that our Rivne Vocational College is one of the best. Therefore, I wish you many years of work, prosperity of the College, opening of new specialties. We will make our esteemed Yaroslav Petrovich happy! We will always remember him!
Yaroslav Petrovich had many friends, acquaintances, and comrades. One of the closest and most reliable until the very last minutes of his life was and remains Leontiy Samchuk, a member of the College's Supervisory Board. Leontiy Grigorovich noted the following: "Yaroslav Petrovych was a bright person, just bright. He did a lot for the College, for its formation, development and prosperity. He was very wise." He shared memories of how Yaroslav Petrovych dared to make a decision to join the structure of NUBiP of Ukraine, how he weighed all the risks, because this is a colossal responsibility for the entire team. And he wished the pedagogical staff of the College, students to continue the work of Yaroslav Petrovych.
Yaroslav Petrovych had warm and friendly relations with the leadership of the Rivne Medical Academy, so it was very nice that its rector, Doctor of Medical Sciences, visited the opening. Rostyslav Sabadyshyn. “This is a straightforward person, a proud person, a brave person, a person who always told the truth. This is an outstanding person. He lived a worthy life!” – the main thesis of the speech of the rector of the Medical Academy about Yaroslav Petrovych.
The right to solemnly open the memorial plaque was granted to his wife Svitlana Volodymyrivna and his best friend Leonty Samchuk.
The Holy Fathers held a ceremony to consecrate the memorial plaque.
At the end, all those present honored the memory of Yaroslav Petrovych with a minute of silence and laid flowers.
To mark the 80th anniversary of the birth of Yaroslav Petrovich Korsun, a new stand was created in the College museum about his ascetic activities, as well as his numerous state and church awards.
