Seminar within the framework of the extended DAAD HSWT project No. 57649162 "Digit 3: Data collection and digitalisation with a focus on University Colleges in 2024"

From 07.12.2024 to 15.12.2024, a seminar was held at the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Trisdorf (HSWT) - Germany - within the framework of the extended DAAD project HSWT No. 57649162 "Digit 3: Data collection and digitalisation with a focus on University Colleges in 2024". Coordinators from 14 colleges of five agrarian universities of Ukraine were invited to the seminar, namely, Sumy National Agrarian University, Mykolaiv National Agrarian University, National University of Life Resources and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Vinnytsia National Agrarian University, National University of Water Management and Environmental Sciences (Rivne). Our college was represented by Iryna Yakymchuk, Head of the IT Department.

The project coordinator, Professor Dr. Ralf Schlauderer, Head of the Academy and HSWT International School, delivered a welcoming speech. He noted that the university understands the difficult situation in the country, but, in his opinion, we need to move forward, not stop, and introduce new ideas into the agrarian business of Ukraine.

Katharina Krön, a representative of the Institute for Agricultural Technology and Construction (KTBL), spoke about the data used for farming in Germany. Such a guide will soon be available at our college.

Professor Michael Trioster, who has been a specialist in this field for about 10 years, told the audience about biogas plants and the history of their origin.

Ukrainian by origin, Iryna Smetanska, professor, doctor, who has lived in Germany for about 20 years, spoke about the activities of the Food Industry Laboratory, which operates at HSWT. The attendees also visited this laboratory.

Professor Dr. Wolfram Spreer, who is ready to help implement such a system on the basis of a Ukrainian farm, spoke about how the irrigation system in Germany is being built.

Professor, Dr. Francisca Vespel spoke about one type of plant cultivation - selection.

Trisdorf has an educational center, which is attended by students of all ages and from different countries. Dormitories are being built for them in the village, as Trisdorf is located 12 km from one of the cities. The tour of Trisdorf was conducted by Markus Heinz, head of the agricultural educational center.

The Merkendorf Campus is home to the Department of Information Technology and Digitalization in Agriculture. Olena Sobko, a Ukrainian born in Sumy, spoke about the activities of this department.

One of the highlights was a trip to Musigof, where people with special needs live and work. This farm raises cows, has land for growing fodder, and also has several greenhouses. They sell all their products in their shop and have a cafeteria-cafe, which is frequented by local residents and employees.

In total, the coordinators stayed in Trisdorf for five days. Scientists and farmers who were invited to participate in the seminar shared their experience of farming in Germany free of charge.

We thank Professor Dr. Ralf Schlauderer for the opportunity to join the colleges in the DAAD project and visit farms to gain practical experience.
