IT MARATHON "DATA COLLECTION FOR BUSINESS MANAGEMENT"

April 12, 2024 launched "IT Marathon "Data Collection for Enterprise Management" before the start of the DAAD project "Digit 3: Data collection and digitalisation with a focus on University Colleges in 2024" and on the occasion of 126th anniversary of the birth of NUBiP of Ukraine.

The IT marathon is designed to strengthen cooperation between Ukrainian educational institutions, IT companies, agricultural enterprises and The University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf (HSWT), whose project manager is Prof. Ralf Schlauderer, as well as in order to strengthen the practical aspect of learning and use the advantages of an interdisciplinary approach in preparation for the project "Digit 3: Data collection and digitalisation with a focus on University Colleges in 2024".

First of all, I would like to share information about the organization of the event. For several years now Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences cooperates intensively with National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management of UkraineThe purpose of such cooperation is to train teachers of agricultural universities, agricultural colleges and other subjects of agricultural education in the creation of digital online educational materials, etc. Rivne FC, as a structural unit of NUBiP of Ukraine, joined the projects HSWT, last year, 2023. The teachers visited the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, which became the impetus for attracting teachers and students from colleges of agricultural universities to participate in the IT marathon.

Rivne FC NUBiP of Ukraine is holding an IT marathon for the fourth time with the support of the NGO "Rivne IT Education", represented by Executive Director Andriy KHMELNYK and UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group, represented by the bank's representative, Gerasymchuk Stepan. This time, the event combines knowledge from the field of information technology with the field of agriculture, because the project "Digit 3: Data collection and digitalisation with a focus on University Colleges in 2024" is focused on the agricultural sector.

In order to start any activity, it is important first of all to research the subject area of the study. Data collection is an important component, the initial stage of research, without which it is impossible to understand whether it is advisable to start a business. Therefore, the main task of the participants is to collect data from the field of agriculture, as well as research the subject area according to all indicators of a specific agricultural business. And since the format of our marathons is IT, it is important to use information technology tools to implement the project.

The introductory meeting was attended by friends who helped start the IT marathon, employees of Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf. Moderator Oksana Nikitska told the participating teams about the conditions for holding the IT marathon and invited speakers to speak, who gave valuable advice that students can use when completing tasks:

  • Using data in agricultural enterprise planning, Vadym PETRENKO, HSWT teacher.
  • Processing of agricultural products in rural areas. Development of a concept for creating a processing plant, Iryna TRYOSTER, research associate at HSWT.
  • Approaches to optimizing accounting and planning of agricultural leases equipment at Leinweber, Serhiy OSTAPENKO, Agricultural and Construction Equipment Rental Manager, Leinweber Landtechnik GmbH & Co. KG.

So, the students have received the theory and will continue to work on the result.

STAGES OF CONDUCTING THE IT MARATHON "DATA COLLECTION FOR ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT"

  • April 12, 2024 – opening of the marathon, speeches by speakers.
  • April 13-18, 2024 – team work on creating projects.
  • April 19, 2024 – finale of the IT marathon, demonstration of projects created by teams.

It is important that there are no restrictions on teams in choosing the type of Startup calculator. It all depends on the teams' skills and desire to work effectively.

Steps for effective data collection:

  • Step 1: defining the purpose of the research area;
  • Step 2: choosing a data collection method;
  • Step 3: process planning;
  • Step 4: data collection.

So, the conditions for a successful start have been created! Therefore, we would like to wish the teams successful development of their projects and worthy presentation before a qualified jury on April 19, 2024.

The final meeting took place on April 19, 2024. The teams demonstrated the projects they created. We got a good result!

The teams were evaluated by professionals:

according to the following criteria from 1 to 10 points:

  1. Data quality.
  2. Technical implementation.
  3. Innovation.
  4. Effectiveness of solutions.
  5. Presentation of results.

So, the presentation of the projects! A team from the village of Myrogoshchi came to the VSP "Rivne FC NUBiP of Ukraine", so the audience was filled with acquaintances, excitement, smiles, friendly advice and discussions.

The teams listened carefully to the competitors, because the victory depended on how the project was presented! The students behaved responsibly and even tried to develop a website and software products - startup calculators. Despite the technical obstacles, the presentations were fascinating. Although the time allotted for data collection, in accordance with the topics of the IT marathon, was very short, the teams behaved responsibly towards their implementation. After reviewing the projects, the jury members provided professional advice and pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of the tasks performed.

After the performances of all the teams, the jury expressed their admiration for the fact that at the end of the working week, after lunch, the teams did not neglect and joined the IT marathon, discussed the projects and decided to celebrate the presented projects and creative data collection solutions. They also wished not to stop at what was done and to work out inaccuracies following the advice of the experienced jury.

So, the winner of the IT marathon “Data collection for enterprise management” was the Boyarska Legaleria team (VSP “Boyarsk FC NUBiP of Ukraine”). Second place was taken by the Fixy teams (VSP “Glukhiv Agrotechnical FC SNAU”) and GeoCalc (VSP “Rivne FC NUBiP of Ukraine”). Third place was awarded to the KN Dev Team team (VSP “Nizhyn FC NUBiP of Ukraine”). The team leaders were Yakymchuk I.O., Chernyak T.G., Krupenya V.O., who guided the participants and provided the necessary support.

Thank you for participating in the IT marathon to the representatives of all institutions. Thank you for co-organizing the event.
