Presentation of the historical book "The Angel Sighed Sadly" by Natalia Kavera-Beziuk and Oleg Beziuk

An interesting and informative meeting with the talented writer Natalia Kavera-Bezyuk and a presentation of her historical sentimental novel “The Angel Sighed Sadly” took place in the college reading room. The famous artist Oleg Bezyuk, who is the book’s illustrator, was also invited to the event. His works are known all over the world, and the illustrations for the book “The Angel Sighed Sadly” really decorate the historical narrative with vivid images.

The participants of the literary event were students of the 11th grade group and curator Nelya Kyyko.

Natalia Kavera-Bezyuk talked about how the idea to write a book came about and what her future creative plans are. The writer noted that the task of the book is to draw attention to an extraordinary personality, an interesting fate, Ukrainian history, and the history of our region.

This is a novel about the difficult fate of the founder of the Ostroh Academy, Princess Halshka (Elzhbeta, Elizaveta) Illivna Ostrohskaya, whose life is studied by researchers and described in folk legends. An incredible story about an incredible woman!

“This story is about how a girl went through many different adventures and returned home to Ostroh to help print the first Bible, open a printing house and the Ostroh Academy. Each of you can be proud of following in the footsteps of the Ostroh princes. This is a great achievement. It is very important to know who we owe this to. I am glad to have the opportunity to share my discoveries with you,” emphasized Natalia Kavera-Beziuk.

This year marks the 925th anniversary of the first written mention of the city of Ostroh, one of the most prominent cities of the modern Rivne region and Ukraine. The city is rich in its history, its contribution to the development of culture and education in our region. The Ostroh Academy is the oldest Ukrainian scientific and educational institution. The Ostroh Printing House is the oldest center of printing in Ukrainian lands after Lviv. But the city can boast most of its prominent historical figures, in particular the family of the Ostroh princes.

We sincerely thank the creative Bezyuk family for the incredible impressions and wonderful book! Enjoy reading!
