Ukraine is a powerful player in the international organic market. The country has been among the TOP-5 exporters of organic products to the European Union for several years in a row. In a relatively short period of time, Ukrainian companies have set up an international supply chain and are already sending their products to over 40 countries around the world. Ukrainian organic producers export over 60 types of products.

Despite the challenges of the third year of full-scale war, the Ukrainian organic sector is demonstrating resilience and continuing to seek new opportunities for development. Organic producers are confidently restoring production volumes and sales of higher value-added products on the domestic market, while at the same time finding new export destinations.

In 2024, one of the mandatory requirements of the organic legislation of Ukraine, which was fully implemented in 2023, came into force, namely - from July 1, 2024, labeling with the state logo for organic products became mandatory for all operators on the domestic market. In this regard, more organic products from Ukrainian producers were labeled with the state logo for organic products. The state register of operators producing products in accordance with the requirements of the legislation in the field of organic production, circulation and labeling of organic products as of the end of December 2024 includes 259 operators - this is 146 more than in the same period last year.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, based on data from the Organic Standard certification body, the Organic Map of Ukraine was created, which depicts the number of operators and the area of agricultural land certified in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of Ukraine in the field of organic production, circulation and labeling of organic products. As of December 31, 2023, the total area of agricultural land on which organic production is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of Ukraine was 77,463 hectares, of which 71,728 hectares were agricultural land with organic status. The total number of certified organic market operators was 152, including 134 agricultural producers.
