Герої Крут

The heroic feat of the battle near Kruty. January 29 – Memorial Day of the Heroes of Kruty

On January 29, Ukraine marks the 107th anniversary of the Battle of Kruty, which for the Ukrainian people became a symbol of the heroism and self-sacrifice of the younger generation in the fight for Ukraine's independence.

The events of January 29, 1918 are a reminder that Ukraine's relentless struggle against the aggressor, which we call the Russo-Ukrainian War, has lasted not for one decade, but for more than a hundred years. The selfless, bright page of resistance to the Bolshevik invader during the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921 is one of the first symbols of the undeniable heroism and self-sacrifice of the younger generation in the struggle for Ukraine's independence.

It was on this day in 1918 that several hundred young students, high school students, and military personnel, in unequal combat conditions, showed true devotion to their people. Regardless of their different origins - children of peasants, workers, priests, military personnel, students, high school students, they all united with a single goal - to defend Ukraine. Thanks to their courage and courage, they managed to inflict heavy losses on the Bolsheviks and delay the offensive. This battle became legendary and symbolizes the patriotism and self-sacrifice of young people in the fight for Ukrainian Independence. The feat near Kruty is an example for many future generations.

In 2022, during the full-scale invasion of the Russian occupiers, young people became known as some of the first to take up arms, wanting to protect the future of their country. They joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine often without any combat experience.

In early March 2022, not far from the place of the feat of the Heroes of Krut, battles between the defenders of Ukraine and the Russian occupiers flared up again. Tense battles continued in Moshchun, Irpin, and Makarov, where brave Ukrainians, just like 104 years ago, stood up to the enemy and continue to resist the insidious invasion.

Youth remains one of the key forces leading to Ukraine's victory – at the front and in the rear.

We appreciate the feat of everyone and honor the memory of the heroes who fell at Kruty. We remember those who gave their lives in the fight for an independent Ukraine. We honor our defenders who today defend the national state. Glory to the Heroes! Glory to Ukraine!
