At the Limit of Human Capabilities: The Journey of Sergeant "Vyun"

The presentation of Andriy Chobot's book "Sergeant V'yun" took place in the Living Room in an atmosphere of warmth and respect.

Andriy Chobit, the author of the book, is an economist and a printer by profession, but it was the war and the story of a friend who survived a terrible injury that became the impetus for his literary debut. The book is based on real events and is dedicated to the author's father, Dmytro Chobit, one of the parliamentarians who proclaimed the Independence of Ukraine on August 24, 1991.

“My friend was in a very serious condition in the hospital,” Andriy recalls. “I wanted to cheer him up, to let him feel that he was not alone. Then I wrote the first chapter about Mykola’s childhood. When he read it, his eyes lit up, and he asked me to continue. That’s how this book was born.” In four months, the story turned into 28 chapters, each of which is filled with life, struggle, and hope.

The main character of the book, Sergeant Mykola Vʼyuk, known by the call sign “Vʼyun”, is a symbol of Ukrainian courage. He was born and spent more than half of his life in the Volyn village of Bugaivka, near Radyvyliv. In February 2023, in one of the fiercest battles, he showed incredible courage. Saving his brothers, Mykola captured ten occupiers, but the price of this feat was terrible - he was blown up on an enemy mine. The explosion deprived him of both limbs, but could not take away his faith in life.

Doctors did not give much hope, but Mykola proved that the true strength of a person is in his heart. Thanks to bionic prostheses, he got back on his feet. And although this path was full of pain, he did not stop. Today, Sergeant “Vʼyun” is undergoing rehabilitation, building hang glider models, training on a climbing wall and even doing art therapy. His eyes shine with life, and next to him is the most valuable thing: his family, which became his support and source of strength. Mykola’s son Demyan was born 2 days before the start of the full-scale enemy invasion. A month later, the soldier went to the east.

"Never give up, even when it seems that only darkness lies ahead," says Mykola. "Our fight continues and we will definitely win."

His words pierce to the depths of the soul, because behind them is not just experience, but pain and faith at the same time. His story is not only about loss and restoration, it is about the love of life, about the strength that is born in the darkest moments, and about the indomitable Ukrainian spirit.

The book "Sergeant V'un" is more than a work of literature. It is a hymn to human resilience, a reminder that even in the most difficult times, there is room for hope.

Mykola Vʼyuk's story touches everyone's heart. It inspires, makes you think, and reminds you that real heroes are among us. Life throws challenges, but real heroes always find the strength to overcome them.

Mykola Vʼyuk is a man who proved that invincibility is a choice. The choice to live, fight, and win!
