Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and Europe Day

May 9th college students  excursions to the Rivne Regional Museum of Local Lore

Ukraine is the heart of Europe: college students honored historical memory and European values

On the occasion of Europe Day and the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, events took place in our college that once again confirmed that Ukrainian youth are deeply aware of their roots, their place in the world, and their own responsibility before history. History teachers Yuriy Konyakhin, Vladyslav Krotyuk, and Viktor Myshkov held a student roundtable and organized a visit to the Rivne Regional Museum of Local Lore. These events provided an opportunity to once again reflect on the role of Ukraine in the common European space – not only geographically, but primarily spiritually and historically.

Europe Day is an annual holiday dedicated to the so-called "Schuman Declaration", which began the process of European integration after World War II. Europe Day symbolizes peace, unity, solidarity and common values that unite the peoples of the continent. In Ukraine, this holiday has a special meaning as a manifestation of our belonging to the great European family and confirmation of the unwavering desire to be part of the common European home.

During the round table "Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation. Europe Day", students of 13-YIT, 13-IP, 23-IP discussed the difficult but majestic path of our people to freedom. Ukraine is not just a geographical part of Europe. From Kievan Rus - one of the centers of Christian Europe in the Middle Ages, through the heroism of the Cossacks, the fight against enslavement in the Russian Empire and the Soviet totalitarian regime - Ukrainians have never stopped fighting for their dignity and independence. And today's fight against Russian aggression is a continuation of this historical mission.

These reflections were continued during an excursion to the Rivne Regional Museum of Local Lore, where students from groups 11-ISK, 22-Z, 23-Yu got acquainted with the exposition that highlights the centuries-old struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom. From the princely squads and Cossack victories to the liberation struggles of the 20th century and gaining independence in 1991 - the history of Ukraine is full of examples of indomitability, patriotism and love for the native land. From the events of the Orange Revolution to the Revolution of Dignity, from the beginning of the war with Russia in 2014 to the full-scale invasion - our people are tirelessly fighting for the right to be part of a free, democratic Europe. It continues today - in the hearts of everyone who defends Ukraine and defends its European future.

Europe Day for Ukraine is more than a symbolic date. It is a manifestation of our cultural identity, historical continuity and aspiration for peace, freedom, democracy. It is a recognition of our right to be part of the civilized world. And Ukrainians – in particular our student youth – bear this responsibility with dignity.

We are convinced: Ukraine was, is and will be part of the European family of nations. We have the historical right and the modern strength to do so.
