In the practice of professional pre-higher education, the formation of professional motivation is of great importance for ensuring the effectiveness of students' educational activities. Students learn a discipline better when they understand that the knowledge gained in classes will be useful to them in their future professional activities. This applies to special disciplines, where they acquire the basics of their profession. But when studying the disciplines of the mathematical cycle, there are also opportunities to activate professional motivation. Thus, as part of the week of general education disciplines on October 17, 2024, the college held a project competition “Mathematics in the field of my future specialty” among first-year students. The organizers of the event are mathematics teachers Larisa TRYHUBETS, Yulia YUKHYMCHUK, Iryna BARANOVSKA, Olga ANTONEVYCH and Petro KORNIYCHUK.
The defense of the projects was preceded by extensive research work, the results of which were various models and presentations.
The jury awarded the highest number of points to the project defense by students from group 11-IP, who took first place. Students from groups 11-F and 11-D came in second, and students from groups 12-D and 11-B came in third.
When considering the role of mathematics in their future careers, our students must understand that it will be everywhere they go. On its own or in symbiosis with other sciences, it forms the foundation for new achievements.
