The influence of career guidance work on the choice of future profession

The motivation for professional choice, the student's attitude towards the educational institution, his professional orientations and life plans largely depend on the information he receives at the most important stage of the complex and contradictory process of professional self-determination.

The end of the school year is an extremely responsible period for graduates of secondary educational institutions, because it is at this time that they face an important choice - to decide on their future profession. This choice is not only a personal decision, but also a responsibility to parents, society and, most importantly, to themselves. Professional self-determination is a complex process that requires a thorough analysis of one's own abilities, interests and opportunities.

Modern realities dictate the need for a responsible approach to choosing a profession, because not only moral satisfaction from work, but also financial stability, personal fulfillment, and the opportunity to benefit society and the state depend on it. In this context, career guidance plays a significant role, helping young people better understand their own inclinations and prospects in various fields of activity.

Today, we can confidently say that one of the most effective ways to train competitive specialists is professional pre-higher education. It provides students with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills that allow them to successfully integrate into the modern labor market.

On March 20, 2025, in order to familiarize students with the prospects of studying in the field of economics, teachers of the economics department Iryna BONDARCHUK and Vita MOTSNYUK conducted career guidance work with 9th grade students of Rivne Gymnasium No. 16, headed by director Oleksiy Igorovych Shelepenko. As part of the event, schoolchildren participated in the quest "Economic Choice", which allowed them not only to better understand the features of this field, but also aroused interest in further obtaining an education in the economic field.

A particularly important part of the event was the speech of the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Lyudmila Baldych, and the Head of the Economics Department, Iryna Martynova. In their speeches, they spoke in detail about the benefits of studying at the college, including:

  • practical orientation of education - students not only receive theoretical knowledge, but also undergo practical training, which helps them adapt to real working conditions.
  • accessibility and flexibility of the educational process - the possibility of studying on the basis of 9 or 11 grades, which allows you to quickly obtain a specialty and start a career.
  • modern material and technical base - equipped laboratories, computer classes, multimedia classrooms contribute to the effective acquisition of knowledge.
  • Employment prospects and continued education – college graduates have the opportunity to immediately find employment in their specialty or continue their studies at higher educational institutions, receiving a bachelor's degree.
  • cooperation with employers - many students have the opportunity to complete internships at leading companies while still studying, which significantly increases their chances of successful employment.

Thanks to these speeches, students received comprehensive information about the opportunities that professional pre-higher education opens up for them. Such career guidance events are of great importance, as they help young people make a conscious choice of profession, taking into account their interests and real prospects in the labor market.
