IT MARATHON "DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE TEMPORARY LIVING CONDITIONS OF IDPs"
A separate structural unit "Rivne Professional College of the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Management of Ukraine" held an IT marathon "Development of solutions to improve temporary living conditions for IDPs" on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the NUBiP of Ukraine.
The IT marathon is designed to unite educational institutions of Ukraine, IT companies, and social services in order to develop effective solutions for re-equipping the living quarters of internally displaced persons (IDPs) using IT solutions and identifying professional abilities in education seekers.
Therefore, on April 28, 2023, an introductory meeting was held, which was attended by 12 participating teams from various educational institutions and corners of Ukraine. This National University of Life Resources and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, VSP “Berezhansky FC NUBiP of Ukraine”, VSP “Boyarsky FC NUBiP of Ukraine”, VSP “Nizhynsky FC NUBiP of Ukraine”, VSP “Irpynsky FC NUBiP of Ukraine”, Rivne Professional College of Economics and Business, Academician Stepan Demyanchuk International University of Economics and Humanities and VSP “Poltava Polytechnic FC of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.
The war that is going on in our Ukraine has left its mark on all conscious individuals without exception. But there are those for whom this war has changed everything. These are courageous people who were forced to leave everything and flee their own homes because of the Russian occupation. We are talking about internally displaced persons.
It is difficult to understand how difficult it is to lose everything and start from scratch, from a clean slate. That is why we set ourselves the goal of designing comfortable living conditions for IDPs, which is the task of the marathon.
The event speakers helped participants understand the complexity of the housing conditions of IDPs in compact living spaces:
Maryna Pavlyuchenko, head of the NGO "All-Ukrainian Association of IDPs", member of the NGO "Women's Interaction" (head of the KAVA project), administrator of the Telegram channel of the Rivne IDPs, facilitator of the NGO "Crimea SOS", social work specialist of the "Veteran Space" Community Center, coordinator of the Rivne Regional Volunteer Headquarters (regarding IDPs);
Yuri KUKLA, Head of the Sector in the Rivne Region of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine;
Oleksandr MATVIYUK, advisor to the mayor on planning and development of the city of Rivne, director, chief architect of projects of Orbita Budproekt LLC, chairman of the board of the Rivne regional organization of the Union of Architects of Ukraine;
Andriy BILETSKY, head of the design studio "OSHATNO" designer;
Iryna CHORNA, Pavlo STRIK, teachers of the Higher Educational Service "RFK NUBiP of Ukraine".

Marathon conditions
- come up with a team name;
- generate an interior design idea;
- consider the means of implementing the project;
- develop a design project;
- create a landing page to host and present the project;
- demonstrate the result at the final meeting.
The design can be developed for any room in places of compact living. These can be any places:
- kindergartens
- schools
- village clubs
- sports halls.
A more comfortable option is the dormitories of various educational institutions.
It is also possible to accommodate people in:
- modular campuses,
- summer sanatoriums, sanatoriums,
- sanatoriums that are adapted for long-term stay.
Therefore, there can be many options.
The final meeting will take place May 6, 2023, where the best projects will be presented and evaluated by stakeholders to determine the winners.
So, the conditions for a successful start have been created! Therefore, we would like to wish the teams successful development of the design project for the premises and a worthy presentation before the qualified jury on May 6, 2023.

We managed to unite Ukrainian educational institutions, IT companies, and social services to develop effective solutions for re-equipping internally displaced persons (IDPs) residences using IT solutions and identifying professional abilities in education seekers.

May 6, 2023 – the final meeting took place, which all twelve teams reached. The teams demonstrated the projects they created. We got a good result!
The teams were evaluated by professionals:

So, the presentation of the prototypes! A beautiful, warm, technically equipped conference hall, a storage room nearby! Moderator Oksana Nikitska told the marathon participants that the final is being held in this very hall, thanks to Public Organization “Equal IT Education”.
The teams listened carefully to the competitors, because the victory depends on how the project design is presented! The students acted responsibly and even tried to develop a website “from scratch”. The design ideas are wonderful, unique. This is not only the interior of a residential space in a dormitory, but also a mobile home, a private house and a house area – landscape design.
Therefore, the jury discussed the presentations and decided the following:
- noted the presented projects;
- do not stop at what has been done and work through inaccuracies;
- to note creative solutions in design development;
- highlight unique ideas;
- Pay attention to the presentation – Landing page.
The graduation ceremony was joined by graduates of the programming department, Serhiy and Artem, who treated them to pizza. Factory and invited them to their place to taste the dishes.
Therefore, winners of the IT marathon "Development of solutions to improve temporary living conditions for IDPs" became a team from a team Byte bandits and Team Care (VSP “Rivne Vocational College of NUBiP of Ukraine”). Second place the winning team BFK (VSP “Berezhany Vocational College of NUBiP of Ukraine”). Third place the winning team KN DEV TEAM (VSP “Nizhyn Vocational College of NUBiP of Ukraine”).
