On March 13, 2025, an Olympiad in geodesy and drawing with the basics of computer graphics was held, organized by teachers of land management disciplines Oleg KACHANOVSKY and Olga PETROVA as part of the week of land management disciplines. Participants were students of the Higher Educational Institution "Geodesy and Land Management", students of groups 21-Z and 22-Z.
The purpose of the event: to identify and encourage gifted students in the field of geodesy and cartography; to create conditions for the development of their practical skills and theoretical knowledge; to deepen students' knowledge of terrain leveling, relief mapping, and the use of software for processing geodetic data; to increase students' interest in geodetic disciplines and the profession of a geodesist; to promote the formation of professional skills and competencies.
Accordingly, applicants had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills in performing tasks that combined classical geodetic methods and modern digital technologies.
The moderators of the event prepared interesting and meaningful tasks.
Participants were offered tasks covering various aspects of science:
- Geodesy:
- performed practical tasks on leveling and processing of source data;
- used Digitals software to create digital terrain models;
- demonstrated the ability to work with software, create three-dimensional models, and visualize terrain.
- Drawing with the basics of computer graphics:
- used drawing skills with the basics of computer graphics to create drawings and visualize geodetic data.
- The issues of working with topographic symbols using computer graphics are considered.
Students had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in an atmosphere of healthy competition. The winner of the Olympiad was SEMENYUK Maksym, a student of group 22-Z, who demonstrated a high level of knowledge and practical skills.
The Olympiad was a great opportunity for participants to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, as well as gain valuable experience. The tasks, which combined classical methods and modern technologies, allowed the participants to feel like real experts in the field of geodesy and cartography.
