INTRODUCTION

The IT industry is a global network where developers, programmers, and other professionals from all over the world collaborate on joint projects. English is the international language of programming, documentation, and communication in this industry. Most technical documentation, articles, courses, and software are developed in English. Proficiency in English opens up access to a huge amount of knowledge and resources for professional development. Knowledge of English significantly expands employment and career opportunities. Many companies are looking for specialists with a high level of English proficiency, as this allows them to work effectively in international teams and participate in global projects. The IT industry is constantly evolving, new technologies and tools are emerging. To stay up to date with the latest trends, it is necessary to regularly study new information, and most educational materials are available in English.

In view of this, on the initiative of the head of the information technology department Iryna Yakymchuk and English teachers Lyubov Protasevich and Iryna Muzychuk, the scientific circle "Code & Communicate" was created, which combines two main aspects of the work of an IT specialist: programming and communication.

The main goal of the group – to develop a high level of English proficiency in IT students in the context of professional activities. This includes:

  • Understanding and using technical terminology: students must be fluent in English in the field of information technology to understand scientific articles, technical documentation, and participate in international projects.
  • Effective communication: Students must be able to express their thoughts clearly and concisely in English, both in writing and orally.
  • Development of presentation skills: students should be able to present their ideas and work results in English to a variety of audiences.
  • Preparation for international cooperation: students must be prepared to work in international teams and participate in international conferences.

The group's tasks:

  • Learning technical English: working with textbooks, articles, and videos aimed at developing vocabulary and grammar in the IT field.
  • Discussion of current topics: discussions in English about the latest advances in information technology, new technologies and trends.
  • Presentations: students prepare presentations in English on selected topics, practice public speaking skills.
  • Project work: collaborative work on projects that involve using English to communicate and document results.
  • Modeling real-life situations: role-playing, simulating business negotiations, presentations, which help students acquire practical skills.

General information about the club

The “Code & Communicate” group was created in the fall of 2024. The leaders of the scientific group are Lyubov Protasevich, Iryna Muzychuk. The participants in the work of the group are students of the Information Technology Department. The group meeting is held once a month in classroom No. 27. The topics of the group meetings are chosen with the aim of studying English in the context of one’s own professional activities.

Expected results from the group's work

The work of the "Code & Communicate" group for IT students is aimed at achieving a set of goals that will ultimately lead to the following expected results:

Expanding language skills:

  • Increased vocabulary: Students will master specialized vocabulary related to IT, which will allow them to communicate freely on professional topics, read technical documentation, and participate in international conferences.
  • Improving grammar skills: Through regular classes, students will deepen their knowledge of English grammar, which is necessary for composing competent written and oral expressions.
  • Developing listening skills: Students will learn to understand English by ear, which will allow them to communicate effectively with colleagues from other countries, participate in video conferences, and listen to lectures in English.
  • Improving speaking skills: Practical classes will help students overcome the language barrier and express their thoughts freely in English.

Development of professional skills:

  • Improving technical literature reading skills: Students will learn to quickly and effectively read English-language technical documentation, scientific articles, and other specialized literature.
  • Development of professional writing skills: Students will master the skills of writing resumes, cover letters, technical reports, scientific articles, and other documentation in English.
  • Preparation for international cooperation: Students will receive the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully work in international teams, participate in international projects and conferences.

Other results:

  • Increased motivation to learn: Thanks to the interesting and relevant program of the group, students will be more motivated to learn English.
  • Broadening horizons: Familiarity with various aspects of the IT industry through the lens of English will help broaden students' horizons.
  • Building communication skills: Participating in discussions, presentations, and other forms of interaction will help students develop their communication skills.

In general, participation in an English language club for IT students will allow them to become more competitive in the international labor market and achieve greater success in their professional activities.
