Fundamentals of multifunctional agriculture

On December 11, 2024, teachers of the cyclical commission of land management disciplines joined a one-day online advanced training course "Fundamentals of Multifunctional Agriculture", during which they became acquainted with modern approaches to the development of agriculture and rural areas.

Purpose of the event: creating prerequisites for implementing multifunctional agriculture approaches in the practice of agricultural producers, scientific and educational institutions.

The event program included the following topics:

  1. Small Grants Program (SGP) of the project "Strengthening membership business associations of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine". Speaker: Vadym Shiyan, Chairman of the Board of the Public Union "Interregional Union of Poultry Farmers and Feed Producers of Ukraine".
  2. Multifunctional agriculture: world experience. Speaker: Tetyana Kotenko, expert of the project "Agri Food principles of multifunctional management in micro, small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises to increase their competitiveness."
  3. Multifarmer Roadmap. Speaker: Svetlana Berezhna, expert of the project "Agri Food principles of multifunctional management in micro, small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises to increase their competitiveness."
  4. Strategy for the development of agriculture and rural areas and multifunctional agriculture: opportunities for development. Speaker: Roman Korinets, Director of the National Association of Agricultural Advisory Services of Ukraine.

Note that multifunctional agriculture is a general term used to describe companies that combine their agricultural production and environment with the provision of services to society: agricultural care, farm education, farm shops/short chains, agricultural day care, agricultural nature management and agritourism. Key to these services is the relationship between farms and civilians/consumers. In other words, multifunctional agriculture is about reconnecting agriculture with society.
