On December 4, 2024, students of the 11-F group with curator Larisa Trygubets visited the Rivne Regional Universal Scientific Library, where a literary event was held on the topic: "Book Creators in Defense of Ukraine." Students listened with interest to the story of the chief librarian Valentyna Bendyug about the writers of the Rivne region who are fighting or fought, defending the independence of our state, and wrote books.

One of these writers is Serhiy Gridin, a children's writer from Zdolbuniv. He stood up for Ukraine back in 2014, and now he defends our state together with his son. Serhiy Gridin is the author of many books that won prizes in the "Best Book of the Rivne Region" competition. The author raises the topic of the war in Ukraine in the stories "Stranger" and "Sappers". The second regional project "Big Reading" in 2023 was dedicated to Serhiy Gridin's work, which involved libraries and communities of the Rivne region.

With a minute of silence, those present at the literary event honored the memory of the Rivne poet, photographer, participant in the ATO and the Russian-Ukrainian war Maksym "Dali" Kryvtsov, who died on January 7, 2024. Maksym has been writing poems since adolescence. In 2023, he published his own collection of poems "Poems from the Battlefield", which was recognized as one of the best Ukrainian books of 2023 according to the Ukrainian PEN. Songs based on Maksym's poems are performed by the Ukrainian band "Yurcash" - "Panivna vysota", "Vin v ZSU, vona v TrO", "Zhovtyy skotch". His poems are heartbreaking, because they are written on "zero"... It is a great pity that such a talented poet is no longer with us...

The life of soldiers at the front was described in the autobiographical novel “The Story of a Stubborn Man” by Rivne writer Oleksandr “Teren” Budko. Oleksandr is a Ukrainian soldier, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, a public figure, and an athlete. He lost both legs during the Slobozhansk counteroffensive of 2022… However, he did not lose faith in his own strength. Oleksandr is a prizewinner of the “Games of the Invincible” in 2023 in swimming, the main participant in the STB television show “The Bachelor” in 2024, a public figure who defends the rights of people with disabilities. “Teren” uses his own example to convey to every wounded soldier that life goes on. Yes, it is completely different, but no less beautiful.

The fate of our compatriots teaches the younger generation courage, indomitability, and simple truths: if you want to change something in your country, start with yourself.
