On November 14, 2024, a master class on the topic “Practical experience of using mobile laser scanners in real projects” was held by representatives of “GEOFIX” LLC for students of specialty 193 “Geodesy and Land Management”. The master class was conducted by Dmytro MATVIYCHUK, a geodesist engineer of the company, a first-year master of study in OP 193 “Geodesy and Land Management” of NUBiP of Ukraine. The event was held with the assistance of the Dean of the Faculty of Land Management of NUBiP of Ukraine, Doctor of Economic Sciences Taras EVSYUKOV.
Taras EVSYUKOV opened the event. In his speech, he congratulated the students on International Student's Day, emphasized the importance of involving professional practitioners in the educational process, and invited graduating students to enter the university.
Dmytro MATVIYCHUK began his speech by introducing the company “GEOFIX” LLC. This company holds leading positions in the market of geodetic services and sales of advanced geodetic equipment.
Today, Dmitry introduced the FJD Trion™ P1 handheld laser 3D scanner. This is a new generation device that allows you to carry out geodetic work in a short period of time with high accuracy, for example, a topographic survey of 8 hectares of forest land was carried out in 40 minutes, and material processing took 2 hours. In addition, 3D scanning materials are used in construction, design, mapping and even in the tourism industry in the form of 3D excursions.
The most interesting part for the applicants was the 3D scanning. Students, under the guidance of the company's engineer, took a photo of a five-story dormitory and the college courtyard. After the field work, the camera processing of the shooting materials was carried out using FJD Trion Model - a software for processing point clouds on a PC: noise removal, colorization and data classification. This allowed creating a detailed plan of the building and courtyard, and calculating the areas and lengths of objects.
In the final part of the event, the most active students were awarded - Semenyuk Maksym (22-3 group), Koval Iryna (5-3B group), Shynkar Oleksandr (5-3B group). The students were awarded scientific literature and stickers on geodetic topics.
We thank Dmytro MATVIYCHUK for the practical master class on the use of mobile laser scanners, as well as Taras EVSYUKOV, Dean of the Faculty of Land Management of the National University of Life Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, for organizing this event.
