National University of Life
and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine"
On November 6, 2024, with the participation of teachers of the cyclical commission of land management disciplines Halyna BUSLENKO and Oleg KACHANOVSKY, another innovative lesson in the discipline "Technology" was held on the topic "Artificial Internet in geoinformation systems".
Purpose of the lesson: to introduce students to the possibility of applying machine learning methods to process aerial images.
Oleg Kachanovsky demonstrated the practical possibilities of an innovative product based on artificial intelligence AI Map Tracing, which automates the process of vectorizing raster map materials, as well as a cloud platform for processing, visualizing and analyzing geospatial data Google Earth Engine, which uses machine learning methods provides the ability to perform classification processes and zonal statistics of satellite images.
During the class, students learned about the main areas of application machine learning methods on processing satellite images in geographic information systems, namely, research into the state of land resources, monitoring of emergency situations, optimization of transport routes, ecological monitoring of the environment, analysis of the development of urban areas.
Students actively participated in the topics discussed in the lesson, learned a lot of new and interesting information that they will be able to use both in everyday life and in their future professional activities.
Halyna Buslenko emphasized that thanks to the knowledge gained, students will be able to work more confidently with modern GIS, as well as use the capabilities of artificial intelligence to improve their own projects.
