Union between<strong>&nbsp;Ukrainian People&#039;s Republic<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Western Ukrainian People&#039;s Republic.<\/strong>&nbsp;Officially, the holiday was established in Ukraine by the Decree of the President of Ukraine \u201c<strong>About the Day of Unity of Ukraine<\/strong>\u201d dated January 21, 1999.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-8da046c p-indent\" data-block-id=\"8da046c\"><style>.stk-8da046c{margin-bottom:0px !important}.stk-8da046c .stk-block-text__text{letter-spacing:-0.1px !important}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-justify\">For the first time in the 20th century, Ukrainian independence was proclaimed on January 22, 1918, by the IV Universal of the Ukrainian Central Rada, and a year later (January 22, 1919), an equally significant event took place on Sofia Square in Kyiv - the unification of the Ukrainian People&#039;s Republic (UNR) and the Western Ukrainian People&#039;s Republic (ZUNR) into one state. As a result of the failures of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921, statehood could not be preserved. As a result, throughout the 20th century, Ukrainians were forced to repeatedly restore it in struggle.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-2b4e509 p-indent\" data-block-id=\"2b4e509\"><style>.stk-2b4e509{margin-bottom:0px !important}.stk-2b4e509 .stk-block-text__text{letter-spacing:-0.1px !important}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-justify\">On January 22, 1939, the holiday of the Union of Churches was solemnly celebrated at the official level for the first time in 20 years. It took place in Carpathian Ukraine (Khust), at that time an autonomous republic of the Czechoslovak Republic. It was a wonderful occasion to remind Transcarpathians of the will expressed at the congress of the All-Russian Assembly of Ukrainians in Khust on January 21, 1919, to join Transcarpathia to the Ukrainian People&#039;s Republic with its capital in Kyiv. It was not just a demonstration, but the largest demonstration of the local population in the 20 years of the region&#039;s stay in Czechoslovakia, with the participation of 30 thousand people who came to the capital of Carpathian Ukraine from all corners of the region.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-2d1fba7 p-indent\" data-block-id=\"2d1fba7\"><style>.stk-2d1fba7{margin-bottom:0px !important}.stk-2d1fba7 .stk-block-text__text{letter-spacing:-0.1px !important}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-justify\">On January 22, 1990, one of the largest mass actions in Central and Eastern Europe took place in Ukraine - the \u201chuman chain\u201d as a symbol of the unity of the eastern and western lands of Ukraine. Over a million people, holding hands, created a continuous chain from Ivano-Frankivsk through Lviv to Kyiv. The action showed that Ukrainians had overcome their fear of the communist party and were ready to resist the totalitarian regime. The slogans of the campaign to celebrate the Day of Unity were: \u201cIn unity there is strength\u201d, or \u201cTogether we are stronger\u201d.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-582ff8f p-indent\" data-block-id=\"582ff8f\"><style>.stk-582ff8f{margin-bottom:0px !important}.stk-582ff8f .stk-block-text__text{letter-spacing:-0.1px !important}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-justify\">A century after the proclamation of the Act of Union on Sophia Square, unity remains on the agenda of national tasks. Our task today is to overcome Russian aggression and do everything possible to build an economically and spiritually rich Ukraine that our descendants will be proud of.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-eb9d19d p-indent\" data-block-id=\"eb9d19d\"><style>.stk-eb9d19d{margin-bottom:0px !important}.stk-eb9d19d .stk-block-text__text{letter-spacing:-0.1px !important}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-justify\">Unity Day of Ukraine is a day that symbolizes the unity of the lands of Ukraine.
